News/Notes from 7/16/06

T-Bones Chaos

On Saturday night, Oz and Jaynes once again invaded T-Bones in Chattanooga for a show that broke a record for "Longest Set Played" in the history of Oz and Jaynes.

The first set lasted for an estimated 3 hours and 20 minutes. Oz and Jaynes were both exhausted at the break point, but still returned for a 45 minute encore to end the show. The crowd packed the dance floor early, probably brought on by the keg stands in the back room, as well as the celebration of Charley's 30th and Anna's 28th birthdays.

Oz and Jaynes want to thank T-Bones for putting up with them; they also want to thank the countless amount of people that come to hear them play, time after time. The show at T-Bones on 7/15/06 will definitely be one to remember ( and one that some people definitely won't remember).

Vyvyan Officially Retired

Jaynes' long time trusty guitar "Vyvyan" was officially retired from live performances after 7 years of hard jamming and torture in Oz and Jaynes shows as well as other performances. Jaynes broke in a new Martin guitar this past Saturday night at T-Bones. How long it will last is another story.

Read Vyvyan's bio below, and look for pictures of her soon to be posted.

Upcoming Events

Oz and Jaynes will once again play T-Bones around the third weekend of August. Check back for official date. They will also be scheduled in Tuscaloosa, Alabama sometime in August.

September shows are tentatively scheduled at Island Cove Marina, T-Bones, and The Copper Top.

Pictures

There were many pics taken at the show at T-Bones Saturday night. If you were one of the photographers, please send any pics to osborn34@gmail.com. Oz and Jaynes will post them on the blog in one of the photo archives.

CD Requests

Oz and Jaynes have recently been asked on numerous occasions about their original CD entitled "Calm Before the Storm" and its availability. The CD is currently out of production. However, if you must have one, they can get you a bootleg copy of it for a small donation of $7.00. Email requests to osborn34@gmail.com with name and shipping address, and they'll send it right out. You can also listen to selections from "Calm Before the Storm" by clicking on the link in the sidebar.

The Rivercity Parrothead Party 7/8/06

On Saturday, July 8, 2006 The Rivercity Parrothead Club held their annual Summer Party with Oz and Jaynes as the chosen entertainment. A fun crowd gathered around the pool to listen to the duo play a vast selection of Buffett tunes, as well as a soon-to-be-classic musical rendition of the annual Wildwood Party flyer. Oz and Jaynes would like to thank Eddie and Patty for letting them invade their beautiful home, located somewhere in the back woods of Ringgold, Georgia. They would especially like to thank Sue for booking them, and Aunt Rhonda for making it all possible. Oz and Jaynes has tentatively accepted an offer to play at the Rivercity Parrothead Benefit at Island Cove Marina near Chattanooga in September!
